Therapeutic Statement

Hello and Welcome! My name is Faranak and I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor with the BCACC and an art therapist. I offer counselling and art therapy in both English and Farsi. I work from a collaborative and culturally sensitive lens that emphasizes the healing power of the therapeutic relationship. I view my work and role as a “fellow traveler” who moves along your unique journey with compassion, guidance, and curiosity. In our sessions, you will find the safety, warmth, and comfort to explore different areas of your life.

I believe healing is possible when individuals are able to connect with their innermost wisdom and intuition. In our work together, my goal is to help you access and reconnect with this inner wisdom. I do this by creating a therapeutic relationship that is grounded in encouragement, warmth, safety and acceptance. I use a holistic approach that values the spiritual, physical and mental aspects of wellbeing.

My trauma-informed approach creatively draws from a variety of modalities based on your individual needs and goals. Some of my modalities include but are not limited to art therapy, existential therapy, adlerian therapy, intersectional feminist theory and attachment theory. I have experience working with individuals and families dealing with trauma, anxiety, depression, loss and grief, relationship and parenting problems, life transitions, domestic violence and more.

To ensure the sustainability of my practice and to provide you the best care possible, I am dedicated to engaging in regular self-care, self reflection, and ongoing training and learning opportunities at both personal and professional level. Outside of work, I take care of myself through dancing regularly, running, hanging out with my family/friends and listening to music.
