Role at Nightingale
Leads the clinic’s clinical direction, research, mentorship, and practice development.
Shane is the founder and Clinical Director of Nightingale Counselling and Research. His work and research focus on elevating the potential of private-practice counselling therapy for the benefit of clients, counsellors, and the profession itself. He works as a mentor, consultant, and instructor on how to contribute ethically to the mental-health community through private practice.
Shane is also a member of the BC Search and Rescue Critical Incident Stress Management team, where he consults on the neuroscience of stress and resiliency. He has led “Debriefing the Debriefers” workshops following province-wide climate emergencies and played the lead role in a feature-length film about the neuroscience of resiliency for groups facing extreme encounters.
His background includes Adlerian Therapy, Emotion-Focused Therapy, existentialism, and neurologically informed approaches. His areas of research and clinical interest include chronic pain, emotional mastery, existential courage, and medically unexplained illness.
Shane is not currently providing counselling or accepting counselling clients. His work at Nightingale is focused on clinical direction, research, mentorship, and practice development.
