Hello! My name is Melanie, and I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor designated with the BCACC. My passion lies in supporting others in reaching their fullest potential. I view my clients as the experts of their own lives and use this to define my role as someone who is walking alongside you rather than pushing or pulling you towards something else. We will work together to stimulate positive change in your life. It may take a lot of effort, but we will do it as a team! Through therapeutic collaboration my focus is to support you in learning the skills that lead to desirable outcomes which align well with your goals. My aim as your therapist is to help you feel understood while at the same time supporting you in developing a greater understanding of yourself. In response to therapy, we will work together to in still confidence in overcoming any current and future adversities.
I am committed to providing my clients with a safe, non-judgemental environment where your concerns will be addressed with warmth, respect, compassion, and care. I have a deep appreciation for working within a multi-cultural lens which provides me with an understanding that people view their world through different lenses, and therefore experience unique internal and external worlds. While the foundation of my work stems from cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT), we will pull from a wide variety of techniques that are tailored towards your needs. Within my practice, I am committed to the ongoing nourishment of my knowledge and strive to engage in unceasing professional development. It is through this example where I can continue to engage with my commitment to strengthening the health and well-being of others.
Outside of work I enjoy spending time with family and friends, taking walks, dancing, and eating. My favourite time of the day is nighttime when I get to wind down on the couch, watching shows that make me smile, and completing my self-care routine.

I believe healing is a collaborative venture; you can expect to find in me a therapist that is compassionate, non-judgmental and transparent. My approach is one that uses curiosity to explore, understand and appreciate you wholly – your unique story.
I incorporate various therapeutic approaches all of which hold clients in the highest regard. Narrative therapy offers an approach that is collaborative in spirit and explores the root of ‘problem stories’ that can often find us stuck in one narrative.
We all have stories, we created them! They are beneficial as they help us to explain and understand our past and our present experiences. These stories uncover our beliefs and values, they help to shape and influence our lives – most importantly they contribute and influence the development of our future.
Let’s discover together how to alter the current narrative, by leaving behind the elements in our stories that are no longer valuable to us, cause us harm or excessive stress. Through this intentional change we can now create internal space to bring in helpful elements that will instead provide a healthier, calmer and flourishing future.
I have over 14 years of experience working and volunteering with diverse communities. I have had tremendous opportunity and vast experience counselling clients in the areas of mental health wellness, specifically addressing depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, disordered eating, and substance / behavioural concerns.
